The frequency of the local DAB Manchester mux will change from 11C to 12C overnight 24th/25th May. With completion by 0600 on Wednesday 25th May.
This frequency change won’t affect people who are listening on FM, MW, online or via digital television. This is a DAB frequency change only.
The stations affected are Absolute Rad 90s, Asian Sound, BBC Radio Manchester, Capital Manchester, Gold Manchester, Heart North West, Key 103, Key 2, Key 3, KISS FRESH and Smooth NW
The current transmitters are: Sunley Building, Sutton Common and Winter Hill (which will be increasing its power)
At the same time on 25 May new transmitters will be turned on at Littleborough and Saddleworth meaning that local DAB coverage will go from 85% to 95%. This is a significant boost to coverage which means 165,000 households / 395,000 people will be brought in to local DAB coverage for the first time.
Listeners on DAB digital radio in Manchester will need to retune their DAB digital radio on the morning of Wednesday 25 May to continue to listen to local services on DAB digital radio, or to pick them up for the first time.
Retuning a DAB digital radio is a simple process. Simply press the auto tune or auto scan button on your DAB digital radio or go into the menu and press auto tune. If this does not restore all services, then listeners are recommended to run a full scan on their DAB digital radio.
Listeners who use their DAB digital radio as an alarm clock set to local services are advised to use a different alarm system to wake up to on Wednesday 25 May
Some radios that were manufactured before the year 2007 may require a full auto tune or Rest of World scan to find the services. On many radios this is done by simply holding down the auto tune button for five or six seconds. Please refer to the radio instruction manual if this does not work.
